Une pépite Américano-Canadienne : 'Streets of Philadelphia' par Molly Johnson

Molly Johnson est une chanteuse de Pop/Jazz Canadienne, née en 1959 à Toronto. Petit prodige, elle découvre rapidement la célébrité puisqu’elle se produit dès l’âge de 7 ans sur la scène du Royal Alexandra Theater avec la National Ballet School.

Après une enfance où elle enchaîne les spectacles musicaux, elle poursuit sa route en tant que choriste pour de nombreuses formations Jazz… et ce n’est qu’à partir de l’année 2000 qu’elle se lance dans une carrière solo, avec la sortie de son 1^er album éponyme ; elle a alors 41 ans et, bien sûr, une énorme expérience.

Très vite, ses superbes reprises de standard du blues et du jazz la mènent en haut de l’affiche, en particulier au Canada et en France où elle effectue plusieurs tournées. Plus surprenant : elle est une des rares artistes contemporaines qui peut se targuer d’avoir chanté pour les têtes couronnées Britanniques, et surtout, pour le grand Nelson Mandela.

La pépite du jour est sa superbe reprise de ‘Streets of Philadelphia’. Un Hit composé par Bruce Springsteen en 1993, pour le film ‘Philadelphia’, et à écouter sur l’album jazzy : If You Know Love (2006).
